Education Committee
The Education Committee provides educational awards to eligible youth from Olivet in support of their continuing education. Members may also apply for the two-semester Peggy Eskridge Memorial Scholarship, awarded to the graduate who demonstrates participation in church events and academic excellence.
The Committee seeks individuals committed to helping young people attain their dreams for higher education. If you have an interest in generating funds in support of this mission, please join the Committee! The intention is that every eligible Olivet student will earn one of these awards that goes along with a personalized gift Bible.

Peggy Flowers Eskridge was a remarkable member of Olivet AME Church who made significant contributions to education as one of the first African American classroom teachers in the South Bend Community School Corporation. She attended Indiana University at a time when African American students were not allowed to live on campus. Peggy passed away in 1986, but her legacy lives on.
The 2024/2025 recipient of the Peggy Eskridge Memorial Scholarship is Jada Donaldson from John Adams High School.
As a member of Olivet, Jada has been actively involved in Bible Bowl, Sunday School, the Praise Team, and she assists with the media center.
Please join us in congratulating Jada on this well-deserved achievement!
